The green, bulging-eyed, voiceless original settlers of the lake shore, said to have descended from the moon in a mist long before Sarnath was built. They worshipped Bokrug, discovered fire, and were massacred to the last body by Sarnath's young warriors — who did not touch the corpses, only pushed them into the lake with spears. Filed here as their own entry rather than folded into Bokrug's, on the strength of the record's own account: the idol did the avenging, but it was Ib's people the crime was committed against.
