Hatheg-Kla

A mountain climbed by exactly one recorded expedition with the explicit goal of seeing what sits on top of it, and returned from by exactly one member of that expedition, who did not go quite all the way and is generally considered to have made the better call.

Whereabouts: A grey stone peak rising from the desert beyond Hatheg, said to be where earth's gods gather on nights when cloud cover hides its summit from the valley.

Access: By a difficult multi-day overland ascent; reaching the summit itself has been attempted once, by the one climber with both the nerve and the scholarship to try, and is not recommended on the strength of his results.
