Locality · New England village
Peck Valley
An otherwise unremarkable New England village whose winter storage solution for the recently deceased worked exactly as intended for years, right up until a survivable failure of the door latch turned out to be considerably less survivable than it should have been.
Whereabouts: A small New England village whose cemetery keeps an aging receiving tomb for bodies awaiting burial once the winter ground has thawed enough to dig.
Access: By ordinary travel to rural New England; the receiving tomb itself has, since 1881, been kept locked from the outside with an unusual degree of consistency.
