An invented account — a reclusive collector, a private gathering, an object recovered from somewhere well outside ordinary geography — with no dramatization of any case on file behind it. What it shares with several files in this Archive is the shape of the thing itself: contact with the object doesn't summon a monster so much as it unmakes the people in the room, methodically and without any interest in them as individuals. No statement on record ties this episode specifically to any chronicle here, but the anthology's own curator has spent decades publicly citing this Archive's subject matter as a lifelong influence.
