The Haunter of the Dark
A young writer investigates an abandoned Providence church long shunned by locals, and finds a sealed steeple room containing a strange faceted stone and the remains of a defunct cult. Staring into the stone opens a channel both ways — and the thing on the other end doesn't need much encouragement to start paying visits during the city's rare blackouts.
