The Tree
Two celebrated Arcadian sculptors, inseparable despite opposite temperaments, are commissioned to compete for the same statue of Tyché. One falls suddenly and mysteriously ill and dies, asking only that olive twigs from their shared grove be buried at his head. An unnaturally vigorous tree grows from the grave within the year, and when a storm brings one of its branches down through his surviving partner's workshop, both the finished statue and its sculptor are lost without further explanation on file.
