The Doomed City

A great, unnamed metropolis whose infrastructure and populace unravel in step with Nyarlathotep's demonstrations, crumbling from a recognizable modern city into overgrown ruin within the span of one account. Whether it is any specific real city, or every city at once, is a question the Archive is not equipped to settle.

Whereabouts: Never named by the sole surviving account, which describes towers, tramways, and electric lights consistent with any large city of the period before its collapse into nightmare.

Access: The narrator and the crowds around him never leave the city by any ordinary route; the account instead describes the city itself decaying and emptying around them until geography stops applying at all.
