The Tower Studio, Kent
An out-of-the-way manor tower converted into a private studio for two people conducting research neither of them could have gotten funded through ordinary channels. The Archive's account of what ended the arrangement is largely secondhand, its one direct witness not having been in a state to compile his own notes afterward.
Whereabouts: A disused tower in an old manor house in rural Kent, later supplemented by a second studio in London as the friendship it hosted grew more demanding of privacy.
Access: By ordinary travel to rural Kent; access to the tower itself was restricted to one visitor for the whole of the two years it mattered.
