The Ape-City of the Congo
A ruined city said to have been ruled by a pale, ape-like queen, its exact location surviving only in one eighteenth-century explorer's discredited journals. Whether it can still be found is beside the point the Archive is more interested in — whether anyone ought to go looking.
Whereabouts: A stone city deep in the Congo interior, reached only once on record by Sir Wade Jermyn's eighteenth-century expedition and never independently relocated since.
Access: By river and overland expedition; Jermyn's own account of the route was dismissed as the product of his later madness, and no surveyor since has retraced it.
