Evil Dead II (1987)

No chronicle behind this one, or its 1981 predecessor — the book at the center of both is an invented prop, not a dramatization of any case on file. What earns it a place in this section anyway is the name: in the original film the book is called the Naturom Demonto, ordinary invented Latin. This sequel renames it, on screen and by narration, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis — adopting outright the actual name of the book this Archive keeps its own dedicated record of. No statement from the production explains the change between the two films. Filed as the closest thing in this section to a specific, named borrowing, rather than a tonal resemblance.
