The Cats of Ulthar

An orphaned boy traveling with a caravan loses his only companion to a cruel elderly couple locally known for trapping and killing cats, and responds with a prayer in a language nobody present recognizes. Every cat in the village disappears that night and returns well-fed the next morning; what's left of the couple afterward is enough to get cat-killing formally outlawed in Ulthar for good.
