The Music of Erich Zann

A student renting a cheap garret room becomes fascinated by his mute upstairs neighbor, a viol player whose late-night music grows steadily wilder and more desperate. When he finally intrudes during one of these sessions, he discovers the old man isn't performing for an audience — he's holding something back with his playing, out past the one window that shouldn't show what it shows.
