The Temple
A U-boat commander's official log records his crew's slow unraveling after they recover a small ivory carving from a torpedoed ship, and the disabled submarine's long drift down onto the roofs of a drowned, unmapped city. The last entries describe a temple matching the carving exactly, and a compulsion to put on a diving suit and walk inside it that the commander no longer has any real interest in resisting.
