Locality · Catskill Mountains peak — subterranean warren
Tempest Mountain
A storm-wracked summit whose slopes have absorbed more than a century of unexplained deaths, all eventually traced to what the isolated Martense bloodline became underground rather than to any curse on the land itself. The investigation ends with the tunnels dynamited shut, which the Archive notes is a solution rather than an answer.
Whereabouts: A peak in New York's Catskill Mountains, overlooking the ruin of the Martense mansion and the site of a squatter hamlet wiped out in a single night.
Access: By foot from the nearest settled road; the mountain's honeycombed interior is reachable only through tunnels the investigation itself ends up excavating.
