From Beyond (1986)

The account survives largely intact — the Resonator, the pineal gland, the interdimensional predators sharing its field. What doesn't survive is the register: gore and sexual excess pushed hard enough that period reviewers treated the result as gross-out spectacle rather than horror. This is the same director's second production filed under this status (see also Re-Animator); the Archive now treats the pattern as house style rather than coincidence.
