Re-Animator (1985)

The underlying record is accurate to an uncomfortable degree — a Miskatonic Medical School researcher, an illicit reagent, an escalating series of reanimations that stop obeying him. The tone, however, has been pushed hard toward splatter-comedy, gore played for laughs rather than dread. The Archive's working theory is that the shift was deliberate: an account this close to the file circulates more safely as a joke than it would taken at face value.
