Pickman's Model (1971)
Broadcast as one segment of a three-story anthology hour, with a framing device added around it — men touring the abandoned studio in the present day, rather than the original's club-room confession. The chronicle's actual reveal works by implication only; the closing photograph does the damage precisely because it is never explained on the page. The broadcast declines that restraint and puts the thing itself on screen, chasing a character down a stairwell. Playing the payoff as a monster-attack scene rather than a slow-dawning implication reads, on file, as discouragement dressed up as adaptation.
