The Dunwich Horror (1970)

The first adaptation to use the chronicle's real title outright, and the closest in tone to the file it draws from — a hill-town family, an unnatural birth, a summoning that very nearly succeeds. Nothing here needed scrubbing or discouraging; the Archive's own annotations suggest tacit non-interference with this one, on the theory that a straight telling, released as ordinary drive-in horror, does less damage than suppressing it would have.
