The Case of Charles Dexter Ward
A Providence antiquarian's harmless-seeming genealogy obsession curdles into something else once he locates his eighteenth-century ancestor's farmhouse and starts asking his doctor uncomfortably specific questions about resurrection. By the time the family realizes the young man in the house isn't behaving like himself anymore, the original owner has already had a very productive few months.
