Through the Gates of the Silver Key

Weird Tales, July 1934 (co-written with E. Hoffmann Price)

Through the Gates of the Silver Key

Four years after Randolph Carter vanishes from the hills outside Arkham, a turbaned mystic arrives at his estate settlement claiming to speak for him — and, once the estate's more skeptical lawyer forces the issue, turns out to be considerably more literally true than anyone at the table wanted. Carter's own account of what the Silver Key actually opened, filed here for the first time, explains both his disappearance and the alien wizard now sharing use of his return address.
