Field Index — Correspondence Office
Dispatches
Not every inquiry that reaches this office names a chronicle, dossier, or locality by its catalog number. More often it arrives as a plain question — is such-and-such a real place, what became of so-and-so, which volume to open first — the kind of thing the formal catalog answers only obliquely, its relevant facts scattered across several records at once rather than gathered in one place.
The correspondence office keeps its own running file of these standing questions and their settled answers, cross-referenced back into the Archive proper wherever the fuller record lives. What follows is the current file, added to as new questions recur often enough to be worth filing.
